Why I Chose the CTO & Tech Lead Master’s Degree at Studi
For more than twenty years, I’ve been working in the .NET ecosystem: backend development, architecture, system migrations, application security, CI/CD, mentoring, and more recently, professional training for teams and public organisations.
Over time, my role has steadily expanded. I no longer “just write code” — I structure, I guide, I teach, and I think about product and organisation. It became clear that I needed to give more coherence to this evolution.
This is why I decided to join the CTO & Tech Lead Master’s Degree offered by Studi / HETIC, leading to the RNCP36209 certification Expert in Digital and Technological Transformation.
My goal is not to become a CTO overnight. My goal is to grow into a more complete, more transversal Tech Lead.
I’m Not Chasing a Diploma — I’m Choosing an Evolution
I’ve never pursued training just to add another line to my CV.
I learn to improve, to understand the bigger picture, and to widen my impact.
This programme helps me:
- strengthen my analytical skills
- gain perspective on business and market issues
- better understand users and product thinking
- reinforce my technical leadership
- prepare for more transversal responsibilities
A diploma doesn’t make someone a Tech Lead.
But strong experience combined with strategic, human, and methodological skills certainly does.
What I Already Master — and What I Want to Grow
✔️ What I already master
- Software architecture (Clean Architecture, CQRS, API REST, .NET, F#)
- Code quality (tests, craft, refactoring)
- Complex modernisation and migrations
- Mentoring and training developers
- Backend design and development
Everything related to technical leadership and architecture is already a natural part of my daily work.
✔️ What I want to develop
- Product vision & user-centred innovation (ideation workshops, qualitative/quantitative research, PoCs)
- Strategy & business mindset (business models, ROI, strategic monitoring)
- Project leadership (iterative management, crisis handling, methodology choice)
- Human leadership (recruitment, communication, performance indicators, team guidance)
These are exactly the skills covered in the programme’s Blocks 1 to 4.
🛡️ Disclaimer – One Vision Among Many
The role of a Tech Lead varies widely across companies, cultures, and contexts. There is no universal definition.
What I describe here is my personal vision: a Tech Lead capable of combining technical expertise, product insight, strategic thinking, and human leadership — without leaving coding behind.
A Programme Built for Future Tech Leads
The Master’s Degree is structured into five major blocks:
-
Strategy & economic model of innovation Market analysis, competitive insight, business model design, ROI, roadmap & pitch.
-
User-centred digital innovation User research, problem framing, ideation, prototyping, proof of concept.
-
Iterative project management Cadrage, methodology selection, quality, risk & crisis management.
-
Team management Skills assessment, recruitment, communication, SMART objectives, team performance.
-
Architecture & secure software development Technical design, client/server development, security, continuous improvement.
The combination of tech + product + user + strategy + leadership is a perfect match for the professional direction I’m taking.
Why Now?
Because my role is changing.
- I train people.
- I support teams.
- I build architectures.
- I design increasingly ambitious personal SaaS projects.
I want to structure this growth, give it a framework, and reinforce it with solid methodology.
And I want to continue evolving without losing the technical grounding that has always defined me.
My Medium-Term Goal
To be able to:
- drive a coherent technical vision
- align business, product, and technology
- guide a team effectively
- and stay close enough to code to keep a real sense of the field
For me, this Master’s Degree is a natural, logical step.
Conclusion: Learning to See Beyond Code
I’m not becoming a detached manager. I’m not leaving development behind. I’m not giving up craft.
I’m expanding the scope of my responsibilities:
- more strategy
- more product understanding
- more vision
- and stronger technical leadership
This programme is not a career change. It’s an evolution.
